First Fruits Sunday - May 16

Commitment Sunday - May 9
Most of our A Bold New Step! campaign has been devoted to planning and organization. Only a few days remain before each member makes his/her response. Many people have graciously participated in making early commitments. These will establish the example and model the way for the rest of the congregation. The total of the early commitments will be announced at the Celebration Event. At the Celebration Event Dessert everyone will learn how they can register their commitments. Some may choose to complete their confidential commitment at that time. Those not choosing to make their commitment will have the opportunity to make their commitments in the privacy of their homes and return them to the church on Commitment Sunday.
Celebration Event Dessert - May 2
Already a spirit of anticipation is sensed by the members of Wilson United Methodist Church as we look forward to the Celebration Event Dessert! Sunday, May 2nd, we gather for the A Bold New Step! Celebration Event at the Sunrise United Methodist Church’s Woodmen Campus. As God often called His people together in festival and celebration, so we are gathering in worship and joy. An exciting program has been planned. At the conclusion of the evening, each member will learn how they can respond with their commitment.
The Children's Parties begin at Sunrise at 6:00 p.m. Workers will be present to care for the children at 5:45 p.m. to allow the parents to arrive for desert by 6:00 p.m.
Pioneer Dinner - April 27
Pioneer: one who is first or among the earliest in any field of inquiry, enterprise, or progress.
- Random House Dictionary
Pioneer Dinner: an informative, inspirational, and celebratory dinner for the friends of the church who are prepared and inspired to be among the first to take the Bold New Step in stewardship! The purpose of the Pioneer Dinner is to energize the congregation so the campaign can move to the next level with the collection of the first commitments of the campaign. This important step will serve to inspire and encourage others to participate in the A Bold New Step!
Save the date: Tuesday, April 27, 6:30pm at the church. Daycare will be provided.
24-Hour Prayer Vigil - April 16-17
The 24-Hour Prayer Vigil is an opportunity to lift the church in prayer for a 24 hour block of time, from Friday, April 16th at 6 pm to Saturday, April 17th at 6 pm. During the prayer time there will be opportunities to pray for the mission of the church, the direction of the church, and personal prayer requests that people have shared with the prayer vigil team. It is also a unique opportunity for each person praying to lift their own prayer concerns and to 'listen' to what God may be wanting to say to us, as individuals in relationship with the living God.
Please sign up for an hour at a time and plan to spend that hour in the church, in prayer.
The prayer vigil chart will be in the narthex with the names of the hourly leaders and room for you to add your names to the poster as you volunteer to come to the church and pray. Hopefully we will have everyone in the church sign up to pray for at least an hour during the 24 hours.
Child care will be available from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and again 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday for those needing child care to come to the church for prayer. For those needing child care please choose times within those hours and indicate you need child care when you sign up for the prayer vigil.
Rick Roberts and Bob Vozolla will be present in the building for security purposes 10:00 pm Friday night until 6:00 am Saturday morning. They will escort prayer warriors from their cars to the building and again from the building to their cars and they will make sure the doors are locked through out that time.
The police department has been notified there will be people coming and going through out the day and night. They may make additional trips around the church during the night hours.
Home Fellowship Gatherings - April 11
Wilson UMC will be holding several Home Fellowship gatherings on Sunday, April 11th at 6pm. These gatherings will be your opportunity to get informed and ask questions about Wilson’s A Bold New Step! campaign. Everyone will receive an invitation letting them know which of the Home Fellowship gatherings they should attend. Child care will be provided at the church and light refreshments will be served. We would like everyone to attend this informative gathering!
